My Life, My Way

People ask me all the time how I knew I wanted to tattoo, but I cant really say I’m surprised that I am. I wanted to be covered in tattoos since I was 3 years old. I use to get in trouble in school for drawing on myself and refusing to wash it off. Yeah I was a little rebel!!! But I believe that when you know, you just know! And I knew that I wanted to tattoo when I was either 15 or 16 years old!! I would get every tattoo magazine I could find and redraw every picture in it!!

I was born in Massachusetts, lived in New Hampshire for a few years when I was little and moved back. But until 2001 the art was illegal in Mass. I started to apprentice in the summer if 2001. I was 17!! It wasn’t the best apprenticeship in the world. They taught me what they could but I think they were more excited about the extra free help. I ended up doing my first tattoo in March of 2002. Yeah for me! Anyways, that following June I graduated high school and did a little traveling. I was also doing show reviews and photography for HitThePit.com, a metal and hardcore music website. I visited Martha’s Vineyard and North Carolina a couple of times. In March of 2003 I started working At Lefty’s World Famous Tattoo Parlor with Stephan Lanphear. He’s the main reason why I am where I am. He sued the state of Massachusetts for 10 years to make tattooing legal. I owe him a lot! But I needed a change, so in August of 2003 I moved to Greensboro, N.C. to work at Little Johns Tattoo where I am now. In the 4 years I’ve been tattooing, I’ve been lucky enough to work some great conventions! I helped out with the first 2 Boston Conventions, I’ve tattooed at the Marked For Life Female Convention in Orlando Florida, Motor City Convention in Detroit, and the North Carolina Convention here in Greensboro. This year will be our 12th annual!! Come and cheak it out!

I don’t try to limit myself as far as style goes. I enjoy doing almost anything. But I do prefer color or cartoonish tattoos, Asian and Chinese brush painting, flowers, traditional, black and gray, dead stuff, etc. It’s not my body so why should I be picky! I also paint when I have some free time. I usually use oil, water color, colored pencil, and charcoal. I do some mixed media also and I have several prints for sale.
I find nothing more satisfying than watching my clients ideas come to life and the feeling of someone going to look at their new adornment for the first time and see the smile come over their face. I love what I do and I take nothing for granted!! So if you have any questions or would like to get tattooed, it would be my pleasure!
